The Museum of Modern Art has two locations - one in Midtown Manhattan and one in Queens. The Midtown location is the primary museum, and it houses the vast majority of the collection and all of the major exhibitions. The Queens location, MoMA PS1, is primarily used for smaller exhibitions and public programs.

Getting to MoMA NYC

By public transport

  • By subway: Take the E or M train to 5th Avenue/53rd Street. Another option is to take the B, D, F, or M train to 47-50 Street, Rockefeller Center. MoMA is a few minutes away by foot from both these stations.
  • By bus: Bus routes M1, M2, M3, M4, or M5 will get you to MoMA from the east side of the city, and M50 is the closest stop if you’re coming from the west side.
  • By taxi: Local taxis are available across the city. The minimum cab fare is $2.50, which increases by 50 cents every minute.

By car

If you plan on driving to the Museum of Modern Art, take Henry Hudson Pkwy to 12th Avenue. From here, take 57th Street to get to 53rd Street.

Parking: 

  • ICON Parking: The charges at this parking lot are $22 for around 2 hours. It is located on 1330 Sixth Avenue.
  • The 1345 Garage: The cost at this lot is $20 for up to 2 hours of parking. It is located at 101-41 W. 54 Street.

Getting to MoMA PS1 in Queens

By public transport

  • By subway: Take the 7 train to 33 Street in Queens. Alternatively, you can also take the E or M trains to Court Square-23rd Street.
  • By bus: Bus routes Q32 and Q60 will get you to MoMA PS1. Q32 will pass through stops 32 and 59 and take you to Queens Boulevard on 33rd Street. Q60 will pass through the First and Second Avenues and head towards 33rd Street as well.
  • By taxi: An easy way to get to MoMA PS1 is to hail a local cab from anywhere in the city.

By car

Make your way across the East River if you’re coming from Manhattan and head towards 22-25 Jackson Avenue.

Parking: 

If you’re driving to MoMA in Queens, you can park on the street using metered parking. Keep in mind that availability is on a first-come-first-served basis. Alternatively, you can park at the LaGuardia Community Parking.
